Iran Trademark
Renewals and recordals

Keep your registrations alive and accurate.

A registration needs care long after the certificate arrives. We track the dates and keep the register in line with your business.

Renewing on time

Trademark registrations are granted for a fixed period and must be renewed to stay in force. A missed renewal can mean losing rights that took years to build, and recovering them is not always possible. We record the renewal dates of the registrations we manage, remind you well ahead of time and handle the renewal filing once you confirm.

If your marks are currently managed elsewhere and you are unsure of their status, we can review your portfolio and tell you which registrations are due, which may have lapsed and what can be done.

Recording changes

The register should reflect who owns a mark and where they can be reached. When a business changes its name or address, or when a mark is sold or transferred as part of a wider transaction, the change should be recorded. Out of date records can cause practical problems when you need to enforce the mark or renew it.

  • Change of owner following an assignment, merger or acquisition
  • Change of the owner's name or address
  • Recordal of licences granted to distributors or partners
  • Updates needed before renewal or enforcement

Portfolio care for foreign owners

International brand owners often hold several Iranian registrations alongside marks in many other countries. We work with in-house teams and outside counsel to keep the Iranian part of the portfolio in order, report in a format that fits your records and flag anything that needs a decision.

What we need from you

For a renewal we usually need confirmation of the owner's current details and your instructions to proceed. For recordals we need the documents that evidence the change, such as an assignment or a certificate of change of name. We tell you exactly what is required and whether any document needs legalisation or translation.

Questions clients ask

What happens if I miss a renewal deadline?

There may be a short grace period during which renewal is still possible, usually at extra cost. After that the registration can lapse. Ask us as soon as you notice a missed date.

Can you take over renewals for marks filed by another firm?

Yes. We can review the registrations, confirm their status and take responsibility for future renewals and recordals.

Do I need to record a licence?

Recording a licence is often advisable because it can matter for enforcement and for showing use. We advise based on your licensing arrangements.
